Richard Sargent

In Remembrance

Richard Timothy Sargent age 50, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023.  He was employed with The Ohio State University for over 18 years.  He was the most loving, kind, generous man there was.  He always had a smile on his face.  Survived by wife, Mary Sargent; children, Forrest Sargent, Sandy Sargent, Katie-Marie Sargent, Guyleena Sargent; grandchildren, Zacheriah, Galeesia, Grace, and Gabby; many loving great grandchildren.

Rick Sargent became a member of BOMA Columbus in 2007. He served on our Board of Governors for many years and was BOMA Columbus President in 2015. You could always catch him for a hug and a huge smile at a BOMA luncheon. He was always ready to help or volunteer time to better improve our chapter. He put so much time into being a committee chair, committee member, President/Board Member,  and volunteer.  Rick was the first to bring medical office buildings into the TOBY competition in Columbus. In fact, Rick was an annual speaker at the BOMA International MOB Conference  and was also a member of the International Medical Office Building committee. He organized and hosted a  JCAHO compliance conference in Columbus for the medical property management community in Ohio in 2015, Furthering efforts to bring the medical property management community into the BOMA community. All this while he raised a family he loved dearly with his wife Mary.  He somehow found time to be just as involved in their passions too, coaching swimming among his many other activities.  Rick always talked about how much he loved his family.  One thing about Rick Sargent is he had a heart of solid gold. He never stopped giving and doing for others…no matter if it was for family, friends, co-workers, or BOMA Columbus. He was a true friend to all and will be greatly missed.
