Maintaining Good Indoor Air Quality in my Building (or home)

Overview of environmental conditions that allow indoor air contaminants to infiltrate and conditions that promote microbial (mold) growth. We will present a basic understanding of the potential health effects associated with exposures to various molds, viruses, bacteria, chemicals, etc. We will discuss general sampling methodology and exposure assessments to document what is really in the air, or inside the HVAC system. Will review appropriate remedial actions and touch on post-remediation testing.

Why is this important?

  • People tend to spend much more time indoors, at business offices and home offices
  • People are becoming more susceptible to allergens, viruses, pollutants
  • Occupants have become more vocal with complaints, union grievances, worker comp claims.
  • Buildings are much tighter than they were in the past, and air is continuously recirculated inside many buildings
  • Different building materials and finishes are used today vs. in the past (e.g.; plaster vs. drywall, insulated ducts, plastic pipes, etc.)
  • The news media is constantly telling us that environmental exposures have the potential to cause disease, cancer, etc.

Parking is in front of the of the building at the door, plenty of free parking
