Dear BOMA Columbus Members,
Greetings and Happy New Year! I am very excited to represent BOMA Columbus as your President this year. I am also a little nervous, truth be told. Karen has assured me that everything is going to be just fine, but the butterflies in my stomach haven’t calmed down yet.
I want to give a special thanks to our Columbus Board of Governors who have put their trust in me as well as our past President, Amie Washburn who did amazing job for us during her tenure. It is an honor to serve on the board with all of you.
This year I hope to do my part to help BOMA Columbus Membership grow. I have challenged myself to bring a Property Manager with me to each luncheon. I challenge you all to do the same. Check your e-mail contacts and your LinkedIn page. If there someone you think would be a good addition to our group, please invite them to lunch. Let’s fill the room!
A little about myself, I have been in the commercial real estate industry for 10 years. I got my start at the Pizzuti Companies and am currently with IMC Real Estate Management. I am currently working on my RPA designation and am about halfway finished. If you have not started working on your RPA yet, I strongly encourage you to do so. For me these courses have reinforced what I know, and have helped fill in the blanks on many things I didn’t know. I find the Design Ops classes to be really helpful as they deal with a lot of the mechanical systems of buildings. I love learning about how things work.
Lastly, I would love your feedback. If you have an idea, suggestion or question and are not sure who to ask, please feel free to contact me. I hope everyone has a fantastic 2018.

We are pleased to have Joel Corley, Director of the BOMA International 360 Program as our first luncheon speaker of the year. Some of you may not be familiar with the program and it is one of the key measurement programs from BOMA International. Statistics show that BOMA 360 designated buildings perform at a better level than non 360 buildings. Tenants are more likely to lease and then stay based on the factors BOMA International has studied. For more information please Click Here to view the BOMA International website on the program. Bio - Joel Corley is Director of the BOMA 360 Program and oversees all aspects of the designation. He began his career with BOMA in 2009, working in the Advocacy department and also assisting in the development of the BOMA 360 Program. As director of the program, he has assessed nearly a half-billion square feet of commercial office space, covering properties in over 60 global markets including the U.S., Canada, Japan, China and Colombia, evaluating operational performance practices of property management, and consulting on areas of improvement. Joel was born in Columbus, Ohio before growing up in Nashville, TN and is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, with a B.S. in Political Science/International Relations.

Every year BOMA International hosts two conferences. The first held in January is typically for legislative purposes and attendees visit their local legislators in DC. The board president and board liaison to the legislative committee will be attending this year.
The second conference held usually the last week of June is more of an educational conference with classes and a trade show for seeking new products. Last year the conference was held in Nashville and there was quite a bit of interest from our membership in attending. This year the board discussed how they could help get some of you to attend one of these conferences. While we do have a limited budget we were able to set aside enough funds to offer 5 scholarships for the summer conference this year in San Antonio. The scholarship will cover your registration fee of $695, you will be responsible for travel and hotel. Click Here for more information and the application.
Did you know you can look up a member of BOMA Columbus with a few clicks on the website? Did you know you can print the membership roster from the website? In just a few easy steps you can search by company name, a person's first or last name. Follow these steps:
1. You must log-in at the top right under "Member Area". Your login is your email address and if you forgot your password you can reset it. The BOMA member list is only available to members so that is why you have to log-in.
2. After you log in on the left you will see menu options so select "Member Directory". This will bring up the list of all BOMA Columbus members in an alphabetical format.
3. You will see the "Search" box and you can type in a name there. Let's say you are looking for all the property manager members at Colliers. Just type in Colliers and all those member's names will appear. What if you just have a first or last name? just type in what you have, click "Search" and a list will appear with that particular name in it.
4. What if you are looking for all the member companies that have landscaping services? If the member has added that service to their membership profile they will appear in your search results. For this type of search you will see three options above the member list. They are "Associate Members" these are all the Vendor Members in BOMA. The "Business Categories" option will show a list of various business categories you can search for.
Last is "Member Categories" and this is basically an internal descriptor of each membership category. They are F-1 for all property managers (we no longer have F-2). F-3 are all Associate/Vendor members, F-4 are Life Time members that may or may not still be active in their jobs. Admin and Tech are members that are either administrative support or building technicians. ANR is a definition for Associate/Vendor member companies that have a 2nd or 3rd paid member. Last Professional is a designation for members like engineers, attorneys, financial specialists etc.
Most of you will be searching under a category like "Landscaping" or "Roofing". If you test this search option and do not see your company name in the list then log in and update your member profile.
After you have the results you are looking for hit the "Printer" icon to get a report you can print. If you have any questions please email the office at firstname.lastname@example.org
