Fire and Life Safety Program for

High-Rise / High-Risk Facilities

A course constructed by experienced, qualified instructors to impart the importance of emergency action plans, fire and emergency escape exits plans and requirements for high rise properties to comply with local, state and federal requirements.

Learning objectives:

LO1: To familiarize the attendee with the history of high rise construction, risks and outcomes, providing a frame of reference.

LO2: To provide the attendee roles, responsibilities and code references to better understand how to comply with code and regulatory requirements for their facilities.

LO3: To impart strategic and tactical information in order for the attendee to begin to create new, or modify existing emergency action plans and escape routes.

LO4: To provide attendees examples, case studies and available resources to assist them in meeting their obligations for high rise/high risk facilities.

Two – eight (8) hour sessions – 16 total instructional hours

Day 1: program overview; defining high risk and high rise and a focused history

           of both; construction specifics; examples of low rise high risk structures;

           review of major high risk incidents; and fire department overview and

Day 2: defining safety program; NFPA code references; responsibilities and roles

           of high rise occupants, managers and owners; emergency types;

           emergency book/plan development and forms; and additional available

This course is directed to property owners, facilities managers, technicians, vendors, leasing agents, large occupancy tenants and realtors engaged with high-rise facilities.

The course will be held Wed. Mar 22 and Thurs. Mar 23, 2017, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Westerville branch of Columbus State Community College, Westerville Center Building 1, 7233 Northgate Way, Westerville, Oh.  For map and directions please download the document attached.

There is a maximum of 24 attendees for the first course.  If there is demand more classes can be scheduled.  The cost for BOMA Members and employees of BOMA Member companies is $195 per attendee and includes: a credentialed, experienced instructor; binder with course information; lunch; assessment of instruction and a certificate of completion recognized by local, state and federal jurisdictions.

If you are a BOMA Member and are registering your building staff please note only a member can purchase their class.  They cannot go in as a "guest" and register.  We are limiting this first class to BOMA Members only, later on we can open it to the general public.  Questions please email Karen at
